From a Father-Son Dream to Rugged Upfitter
Every great business starts with an idea. Ours started with a conversation between a father and his son.
One day, my son came to me and said, "Let's start a business selling UTV parts."
We had talked about different business ideas before, but this time was different. As I listened, I could hear the passion in his voice. He talked about helping people, filling a need in the community, and creating a place where riders could find the parts and service they deserved.
What stood out to me wasn't what he said—it was what he didn't say.
He never mentioned profit margins, startup costs, or making money. He talked about helping people enjoy the hobby more. He talked about getting more families out riding. He talked about creating something valuable for the off-road community.
Of course, we eventually had the business conversations. But in that moment, I realized the best reason to start this company wasn't financial at all.
It was something we could build together.
A true father-and-son business.
A place where we could work side-by-side, solve problems, help customers, make friends, and do something we genuinely enjoyed.
I gave him the typical fatherly warning:
"You know this won't be easy. It's going to take a lot of hard work, time, and commitment."
He smiled and gave the typical son response:
"Yeah Dad, I know."
And with that, Northeast Powersports was born.
We came up with the name, designed a logo, opened the doors, and got to work.
The response from the community was immediate.
Customers walked through the door and said things like:
"This was needed."
"I'm glad you're here."
"It's about time somebody did this."
Those words confirmed what we hoped all along—we were solving a real problem and serving a community that deserved better.
Over the years, we built Northeast Powersports on a simple foundation:
Provide quality parts.
Do honest work.
Treat customers right.
Stand behind everything we do.
As our reputation grew, so did our capabilities. What started as a Side-by-Side parts and service shop evolved into something much bigger.
We became known not only for maintenance and repairs, but for complete vehicle builds, custom installations, fabrication, accessories, performance upgrades, and professional-level craftsmanship.
As the years went on, we began looking for ways to grow while staying true to what made our business successful in the first place.
We realized that the same knowledge, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that helped us build a strong reputation in the Side-by-Side industry could also serve other vehicle enthusiasts and professionals.
So, we made a decision to expand.
We opened our doors to Jeep owners, Bronco enthusiasts, truck owners, and eventually commercial van and fleet customers.
It was a natural progression—an opportunity to apply the same level of service and expertise to a broader range of vehicles while continuing to serve the off-road community that helped us get started.
With that growth and progression, the name change became necessary to better reflect who we had become and where we were headed.
Northeast Powersports was where our journey began.
But Rugged Upfitter represents where we're going.
Why Rugged Upfitter?
We chose the name Rugged Upfitter because it perfectly describes what we do.
Upfitting is the process of transforming a factory vehicle into something more capable, more functional, and more purpose-built.
Whether that's a Side-by-Side ready for the trails, a Jeep built for adventure, a Bronco prepared for overlanding, a truck equipped for work, or a commercial van organized to maximize productivity, the goal is the same:
Take a vehicle from factory-standard to ready for anything.
At Rugged Upfitter, we don't just install parts.
We help customers build vehicles around the way they work, play, and live.
Every recommendation, every installation, and every build is backed by years of experience and a commitment to quality.

While our name has changed, our values have not.
We're still the same family-owned company.
Still in the same location.
Still serving customers with the same dedication that started this journey ten years ago.
