What is vehicle upfitting? Vehicle upfitting is the professional process of taking a factory vehicle and equipping it with specialized components to meet a particular need. That may include improved utility, trail-ready capability, better organization, added protection, or a customized appearance. When you work with Rugged Upfitter, you are not simply adding parts. You receive professional installation and knowledgeable recommendations backed by nearly a decade of mechanical and vehicle-upfitting experience.
-
Do you sell parts, install them, or both? We do both. Rugged Upfitter sells parts and accessories from many leading manufacturers and professionally installs them at our Akron shop. We can help you choose the right products, confirm compatibility, order the parts, and complete the installation.
-

After nearly 10 years of specializing in Side-by-Sides, we expanded our services to include Jeep Wranglers, Ford Broncos, pickup trucks, commercial trucks, and work vans. Although our name has changed, we still provide the same Side-by-Side maintenance, repair, parts, accessories, and customer service our customers have trusted for years.
-
How long has your team worked on Side-by-Sides and specialty vehicles? We started the business in August 2016 and have been serving Side-by-Side owners throughout Northeast Ohio ever since. -
Do I need an appointment for an estimate? An appointment is not always required for an initial estimate, and you are welcome to stop by during business hours. However, calling ahead is recommended so we can make sure someone is available to properly evaluate your vehicle. Some repairs, electrical concerns, or more involved installations may require additional inspection or diagnostic time before we can provide an accurate quote.
-
How do I get a quote for parts and installation? The best way to receive an accurate quote is to bring your vehicle to our shop so we can inspect its current condition and any accessories or modifications already installed. Existing equipment can affect product compatibility and installation time. Please bring your vehicle information, including the year, make, model, trim level, and VIN. Our goal is to provide an accurate and upfront quote so there are no unexpected costs later.
-
Can you order the parts for my vehicle? Yes. In most cases, having Rugged Upfitter order the parts is the best way to confirm proper fitment, compatibility, and availability. We can help you compare options, select the right product, and coordinate the installation.
-
Can you install parts that I purchased somewhere else? We may install customer-supplied parts after inspecting them and confirming that they are appropriate for the vehicle. The customer is responsible for incorrect, damaged, incomplete, or incompatible parts, including return shipping and replacement costs. Additional labor charges may apply if installation is delayed or made more difficult by missing hardware, poor instructions, or fitment problems. Customer-supplied parts are not covered by Rugged Upfitter's product warranty.
-
How do you confirm that a part will fit my vehicle? The vehicle identification number, or VIN, is the most reliable way to confirm the year, make, model, engine, trim, and certain factory options. In some cases, we can begin the lookup with a license plate number, but we may still request the VIN or inspect the vehicle before ordering.
-
Do you require a deposit for special-order parts? Yes. We require a minimum 50% deposit on special-order parts before the order is placed. Certain custom, nonreturnable, or specially manufactured products may require payment in full.
-
Can I wait while my accessories are installed? Customers may wait during shorter installations when space and scheduling allow. For longer jobs, we recommend arranging transportation while the vehicle is being completed. Depending on availability and distance, we may also be able to provide a local ride to your home or workplace. Please discuss transportation options with us when scheduling your appointment.
-
What accessory brands does Rugged Upfitter carry? Rugged Upfitter works with a large network of manufacturers, distributors, and specialty suppliers. This allows us to source parts and accessories from many leading brands for Side-by-Sides, Jeeps, Broncos, pickup trucks, commercial trucks, and work vans. Product availability depends on the vehicle and application. Contact us with the product or brand you are considering, and we will help confirm availability, compatibility, pricing, and installation options.
-
Are the products you install covered by a warranty? Most products we sell are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, but warranty terms vary by brand and product. Some warranties may exclude racing, competition use, off-road damage, improper use, impact damage, normal wear, or modifications outside the manufacturer's specifications. We will provide available warranty information for the product, but all product-warranty decisions are made according to the manufacturer's terms.
-
Does Rugged Upfitter warranty its installation work? Yes. Rugged Upfitter provides a two-year workmanship warranty on qualifying installations completed by our shop. This covers problems caused by the installation itself but does not cover product failure, misuse, accidents, normal wear, racing, off-road damage, customer-supplied parts, or modifications made after the installation.
-
Will aftermarket accessories affect my factory warranty? Installing an aftermarket accessory does not necessarily cancel the entire factory warranty. However, a manufacturer or dealership may deny coverage for a specific repair if it determines that an aftermarket part or modification caused or contributed to the failure. Warranty decisions are made by the vehicle manufacturer or dealership. We recommend reviewing your factory warranty and discussing major performance, suspension, electrical, or drivetrain modifications before installation.
-
Can you help me compare different brands and product options? Yes. Our team can help you compare products based on fitment, quality, intended use, available features, warranty coverage, appearance, installation requirements, and budget. We will explain the differences so you can select the product that makes the most sense for your vehicle and how you plan to use it.
-
Do you provide maintenance or repairs after an upfit is completed? Yes. Rugged Upfitter provides ongoing maintenance, repairs, inspections, and accessory support after an upfit is completed. We want to build long-term relationships with our customers and continue supporting their Side-by-Sides, Jeeps, Broncos, trucks, and commercial vehicles after the original installation. Customer service is our top priority, and our goal is to be the shop you rely on for ongoing service, accessories, and vehicle upgrades.
